While it is impossible to be 100% accurate with time involved in projects, the following rates will be considered standard.
Lessons via Skype - Composition and Orchestration
$25 / hour
Orchestration from pre-existing score
$50 / hour of work - estimate of time will be given at the beginning of project.
Composition Commissioning Rate
Work for solo instrument and Piano - $100 / minute of music*
Work for 3-5 instruments - $150 / minute of music*
Work for 6-10 instruments $200 / minute of music*
Chamber work for more than 10 instruments - $250 / minute of music*
Work for Wind Ensemble of Orchestra - $500 / minute of music*
*A minute of music will comprise of a pre-agreed upon length for a work between the composer and the client. This will represent a minimum time-frame for the requested work. Lengths over the requested length will be covered by the composer.
Examples:
A pre-agreed upon 10-minute work for wind ensemble will cost $5,000. If the piece is longer than requested, no additional fees will be charged.
A pre-agreed upon 10-minute work for solo instrument and Piano will cost $1,000. If the piece is longer than requested, no additional fees will be charged.
All rates can be negotiated with the customer. All rates for composition commissioning include part preparation and engraving. Payment of 25% is due before composition commences. Balance will be due upon agree upon completion date. Payments will be arranged directly with the composer.
